Perform a breaststroke start, perform a one and a half pull under water, transfer into stroke and complete the remainder of the 25 metres.
a. Start with either a track or grab start.
b. Enter the water in as streamlined a position as possible – hands, arms,
head, torso, hips, legs and feet entering into the same position.
c. Maintain the streamlined position under water (see above).
d. 1 ½ arm pulls and one leg kick will be achieved before the head resurfaces.
e. Once the swimmer has broken the surface they will continue swimming
breaststroke.
f. The swimmer will end with a finish.
All starts to be done by a "take your marks, go!" by the coach. The "go" can be by whistle or shout.
All starts should be from the poolside and not a starting block.
