The Swim England Expected Standards are referenced throughout the Learn to Swim Programme. They accompany our Awards to support teachers and coaches to maintain the highest standards when teaching children.
Each digital video shows you an individual outcome in the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, Stages 1 to 7, and each outcome for the Swim England Aquatic Skills Framework, Stages 8 to 10 Swimming.

    Episode 4

    Long legs with a small splash, the kick originating from the hip and hips near the surface of the water. Loose ankles throughout. Must ensure no use of hands. Face may be in or out of the water.

    Episode 5

    Learner can be on their back, front or side keeping head still, kicking to undulate the body. The kick must originate from the hips, legs relatively straight, flicking toes upwards and a bounce-like action.
